The upcoming 2017 championship weekend will be one of the biggest yet, with thousands of fans visiting the Valley of the Sun, March 31 – April 3.
The 2017 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament will involve 68 teams playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men’s NCAA Division I college basketball. It is scheduled to begin on March 14, 2017, and will conclude with the championship game on April 3 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The championship game will be the first contested in a Western state since 1995 when Seattle, Washington was the host of the Final Four for that year. This is the first time Phoenix will host the Final Four. What an honor!
The weekend will also feature events for fans of all ages, including the ultimate Final Four Fan Fest, three days of free concerts at the March Madness Music Festival, Reese’s Final Four Friday, youth clinics, a basketball dribble and more.
The women’s 2017 Final Four is coming to Dallas for the first time next year. Dallas will host the Women’s Final Four for the first time, with the national semifinal games set for Friday, March 31, and the national championship to be decided April 2. American Airlines Center, which has previously held NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championships regional play in 2011 and 2016, will be the site for the crowning of the 36th NCAA national champion in women’s basketball. The American Airlines Center is a multi-purpose arena, located in the Victory Park neighborhood near downtown Dallas. The venue serves as home to the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association, and the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League. The arena is also used for concerts and other live entertainment. It opened in 2001 at a cost of $420 million with a basketball seating capacity of 19,200 and up to 21,146 with standing room.
